On Tuesday, the coffee giant said it would bring its Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room concept, which it calls an "homage to coffee," to New York City's meatpacking district in 2018. The store, which is currently under development and is scheduled for completion in late 2017, will be 20,000 square feet.
The original roastery and tasting room concept swung open its doors in December 2014 in the company's hometown of Seattle, Washington. That 15,000-square-foot store features a range of higher-end, small-lot coffees from around the world, a more expansive menu of food than that found at a typical Starbucks and a giant coffee roasting facility.
The concept is part of Starbucks' larger plan to open upscale cafes, minus the roasteries, called Reserve, in over 500 locations globally over the next five years.
