Jos. A. Bank Clothiers
said December sales have been better than expected, despite two major snowstorms in the month.
Shares were up $1.66, or 5%, to $35.18, well off their 52-week high of $51.35 set in September.
The Hampstead, Md.-based retailer of men's clothing said both total sales and comparable-store sales have exceeded expectations, but failed to provide further details.
Bank's November sales increased 19.4% to a record $29.6 million. Comparable-store sales rose 2.5%. The company reports December sales figures on Jan. 8.
In its most recent quarter, the company's net income increased 53% to $2.9 million, or 38 cents a share, on revenue of $72 million. Bank has opened 50 stores this year.
