) -- Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have officially been named the

American Idol

season 10 judges.

Ryan Seacrest made the announcement on Wednesday, live from auditions at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Idol

is one of the most successful television shows in history and the only program to claim the top Nielsen rating for six consecutive seasons.

The show has finally unveiled its lineup of celebrity judges for its 10th season today, ending months of speculation. The buildup to season 10 has been all about the judges following the departure of Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres. Rumors swirled for months that big name celebrities such as Shania Twain, Elton John and Jessica Simpson would possibly sit on the judging panel.
