NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- There couldn't be a much different start to the 2015 NFL season for the two New York teams. While the Giants have led both games until the final minutes, they are 0-2. Meanwhile the Jets under young, new coach Todd Bowles have outscored their first two opponents 51-17 and hold a 2-0 record.
Those starts for each team have been reflected in secondary market demand for week 3, although average Giants ticket prices for the rest of the season are higher than Jets ticket prices.
Both teams will be home at Metlife Stadium, but the Jets have a significant advantage in demand. The Giants will kick off the season's third week on Thursday Night Football, hosting the Washington Redskins. According to TiqIQ, the
with a get-in price of $59. It is currently the least expensive game on the Giants home schedule this season. No other game currently has an average price below $200.
Meanwhile the Jets will host their most expensive game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia has had its own struggles this season, starting the season 0-2. The current average price for Jets tickets against the Eagles is $219.36, 43% above the average for Thursday's Giants game. The get-in price is also more expensive with the cheapest ticket listed at $86.
While the Jets hold the advantage over the Giants this weekend, that isn't the case for the full season. The season average for Giants tickets on the secondary market is currently $288.88, 57% more expensive than the average price of Jets tickets at $184.09.
Only one other Giants game for the remainder of the season will have an average below the Jets' meeting with the Eagles in Week 3. That game is a Week 15 matchup against the Carolina Panthers that has an average price of $210.19 and a get-in price of $71. Every other Giants home game will have a secondary market average of $245 or above, including when the Giants host the Eagles in Week 17 with an average of $246.60. The most expensive Giants game will be in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys with an average of $414.41 and a get-in price of $169.
The next most expensive Jets home game following the matchup with the Eagles will be against the New England Patriots in Week 16. The current average price for the game is almost identical to the one against Philly at $219.12, though with a lower get-in price of $58. No other Jets home games, though, will average over $200.
These two teams will play each other this year. The Giants will be the home team. The week 13 game will have an average ticket price of $335.30 and a get-in price of $138, the third most expensive Giants game of the year.
