'Jersey Shore' Cast Rings Bell: Today's Outrage
NEW YORK (
) -- The cast of
Jersey Shore
woke up early this morning, taking time away from their otherwise arduous schedule of tanning and drinking, to ring the opening bell of the
(NYX)
.
But don't ask the cast for stock advice. Indeed,
Jay Leno tested the celebrities on their economic knowledge
during his All-Star segment of "Jay Walking," and let's just say that Stevie Cohen has little to fear from the crew.
When asked to identify a picture of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Jenni, aka J-Woww, decalred him to be the president of Iraq. But Mike "The Situation" at the very least knew it was a "guy from the banking industry."
When Ronni was asked "What are the two symbols of the stock market?" he responded, "I don't have any stock so I wouldn't know." Snooki took a guess with "the donkey and elephant," J-Woww said "tiger and leopard" and Sammi offered up the lion.
Regardless of their knowledge of the stock market, CNBC's Erin Burnett declared, "We haven't seen a buzz like this in around a year."
MTV, which is owned by
Viacom
(VIA-B)
, created a gold mine with its reality television series and made stars out of Angelina, Jenni "J-Woww," Mike "The Situation," Nicole "Snooki," DJ Pauly D, Ronnie, Sammi "Sweetheart" and Vinny.
The season finale of
Jersey Shore
broke records for MTV, garnering a 4.8 rating.
Season 2 of the show will air on Thursday, with the cast hitting the beaches of Miami.
