Initial jobless claims rose by 12,000 to 472,000 last week.

Economists had expected the Labor Department to report initial jobless claims of 450,000 for the week ended June 12, according to That level represents a slight decrease from the prior week's claims of 452,000.

The consumer price index for May fell 0.2%. Economists expected prices at the consumer level to slip 0.1%, following a similar decline in April. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the core index rose 0.1% as expected, after remaining unchanged in April. More details to follow.
