Economists had expected the Labor Department to report initial jobless claims of 450,000 for the week ended June 12, according to Briefing.com. That level represents a slight decrease from the prior week's claims of 452,000.
The consumer price index for May fell 0.2%. Economists expected prices at the consumer level to slip 0.1%, following a similar decline in April. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the core index rose 0.1% as expected, after remaining unchanged in April. More details to follow.
