Goldman Suit Pushes Global Stocks Down
NEW YORK (
) -- Asian stocks closed lower Monday and European shares were down after
Goldman Sachs
(GS) - Get Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Report
was charged with fraud by the
Securities and Exchange Commission
on Friday.
Asian markets also fell after China took additional steps to corral real estate prices.
The Nikkei 225 stock average in Tokyo fell 1.7% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped 2.1%.

In China, stocks plunged 4.8% -- their biggest fall in eight months -- after the government announced more moves over the weekend to level off housing prices.
Stocks in London and Frankfurt were trading down Monday by 0.6%.
