TSC Message Board Netiquette

The terms and conditions for participation on's

message boards are detailed below. We also explain what we expect from board participants.

Our message boards are intended to serve as a discussion center for thoughtful readers who make their own investment decisions, with or without the help of a broker. They are not the place for stock touters, cheerleaders or hypesters, or for people who will not put their name behind their word. To preserve the spirit of accountability, honesty and informed dialogue that we have fostered at

, we respectfully ask that all participants:

  • Include their full name in any posting.
  • Disclose any positions they have in stocks being discussed (long, short, no position).

If you're looking to tout stocks or bash others, you've come to the wrong place, and so we also respectfully ask that you not engage in any:

  • Stock touting.
  • Personal attacks.
  • Profanity, vulgarity or offensive conduct of any kind.
  • Business solicitations or advertising.
  • Any inappropriate, unethical or misleading behavior.

TheStreet Recommends

These standards are designed to ensure that the dialogue here is credible, responsible, intelligent and ultimately informative.

We cannot guarantee that readers will tell the truth, and we will not monitor the veracity of names and positions or the content of any postings. But by asking participants to volunteer this information, we hope to raise the credibility of the discussion and foster a spirit of open, honest exchanges of information.

We know some readers feel comfortable with the anonymity that the Internet affords for a wide variety of reasons -- some legitimate and perhaps some not. But disclosure, not anonymity, is what

and these boards are all about. We are trying to help investors understand Wall Street, make smart decisions and have fun.
