The company indicated in a filing with the
Securities and Exchange Commission
that consolidated income from continuing operations, before realized investments gains or losses and special items, should be $1.15 to $1.35 a share for the third quarter.
For the year, the insurance company expects to earn $5 to $5.25 a share.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson First Call expect Cigna to earn $1.15 a share in the third quarter and $4.95 a share for the full year.
Shares of Cigna closed Monday at $48.75.
