John Bond, a former Mississippi State player, was allegedly soliciting the bribes, claiming he represented Newton and his family.
Newton was recruited by Auburn University head coach Gene Chizik and is currently the starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. The NCAA is investigating the case.
"AARP" is a trending search topic today following news that the American Association of Retired Persons intends to raise its employee's insurance plan costs next year.
AARP employees received an email last month stating that their health care premiums could increase by up to 13% in 2011 due to rising medical costs.
The association is changing copayments and deductibles to avoid a 40% tax on high-cost group plans that will take effect in 2018 under the health care reform.
