The stock market turned in its first losing week in five this week.

On Friday, thanks to some sinking consumer confidence, stocks finished lower, as the

Dow Jones Industrial Average

, which had dropped more than 150 points earlier in the day, finished lower by 77 points, or 0.8%, to 9,321.

The

S&P 500

lost 9 points, or 0.9%, to 1004. The

Nasdaq Composite

declined 23.83 points, or 1.2%, to 1985.52.

For the week, the Dow was down 0.5%, the S&P 500 off by 0.6% and the Nasdaq lower by 0.7%.

So can stocks get it together next week in the face of persistently negative data on housing and the consumer (although inflation was flat in July) and with a contentious health care debate as the backdrop? Let us know by voting in the poll below.
