The stock market's three major averarges couldn't extend their winning streak this week, as both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 finished lower.
On Friday, the Dow rose 117.40 points, or 1.5%, to 8074.46, while the S&P climbed 9.68 points, or 1.1%, to 861.60. The
gained 39.02 points, or 2.4%, to 1691.23, finishing higher on the week.
Better-than-expected quarterly reports
helped lift stocks Friday.
For the week, the Dow lost 0.7%, and the S&P 500 fell 0.4%. The Nasdaq, however, advanced 1.3%.
