(BA) - Get Boeing Company Report

, the world's largest maker of commercial planes, said Tuesday that

China Airlines

will buy 10 of its 747-400 jets, in a deal worth about $2 billion.

China Airlines, which is Taiwan's largest air carrier, also will buy 12 jets from Boeing's rival


. The Airbus jets are valued at $1 billion.

Boeing received orders for six passenger planes and four freighters. The first plane is scheduled for delivery in July 2003. Meanwhile, Airbus has received orders for 12 Airbus A330 jets and options on six more for delivery between 2004 and 2007.

Boeing, which said the order is the largest this year, was last trading up 0.5% at $32.96. Airbus, which is majority owned by European Aeronautic Defense & Space Co NV, ended the session down 1% at 10.26 euros in Paris.
