So, I am tired of hearing these whiny kids complain about Apple's (AAPL) - Get Report iPhone 8 and then write about it on rogue blogs. Here's the bottom line.

I've had an iPhone 6 with 16 GB in memory for over three years. I have loved it -- it has worked just fine, never had a problem. From handling endless breaking news alerts with ease to sharing TheStreet's articles with family members, the iPhone 6 has delivered again and again.

But, it was time to upgrade to the latest iPhone after seeing its new features and acknowledging that my baby has slowed down a touch. Hence, over the weekend I picked up a pre-ordered iPhone 8 at my local Apple store. Traded in my iPhone 6 without looking back. Hey, no emotional attachment to a piece of plastic that is three years old.

Here's an insightful review from a non-tech geek: so far, so good with the iPhone 8.

You can be sure that I treated my new iPhone, with the minimum 64 GB (how's that for an upgrade!), like a newborn during a trip to the North Fork of Long Island last weekend. Despite seemingly good durability reviews, the iPhone 8 isn't something I want to drop. After all, I am paying about $35 a month to lease the phone (upgrade plan, people).

I am an accomplished amateur photographer and the iPhone's camera is clearly better than on my iPhone 6. In other words, the phone takes good pictures that would do Facebook (FB) - Get Report owned Instagram proud.

And yes, texting and email work just fine. No problems using iOS 11.

As for the more technical features, I'll be spending this week digging into them. No biggie, the phone works as advertised. All in all, chill haters...this phone is not obsolete out of the box.
