said Friday that it opened 24,000 new online brokerage accounts in July and that it had an average daily volume of 161,000 trades.
Both were below June's figures. The company said it now has a total of 2.986 million accounts.
In June the company averaged 179,000 daily trades and opened 31,000 new accounts. May's numbers were 31,000 new accounts with an average daily volume of 157,000 trades.
The company's average daily volume was in line with a Merrill Lynch analyst's expectation of 159,000 to 164,000. The analyst had
upgraded Ameritrade on Wednesday on the belief that even if current trading volume holds steady, existing earnings forecasts are conservative.
