Trump Moans "Our Supreme Court Didn't Have the Courage to Overturn Elections"
Courage to Overturn
In case Twitter deletes that here is the exact quote.
"Our Supreme Court and our courts didn't have the courage to overturn elections that should have been overturned. because you are talking about decisive amounts , hundreds of thousands and even millions of votes."
"I was the one, and this administration was the one, that came up with the vaccine that is going to save the world."
That is a bit of a stretch although Operation Warp Speed played a role according to PolitiFact on November 19.
Drugmakers Pfizer and Moderna announced that preliminary data for their vaccines show they are 95% and 94.5% effective, respectively, against COVID-19. The companies plan to request emergency-use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
"Another Vaccine just announced. This time by Moderna, 95% effective. For those great ‘historians’, please remember that these great discoveries, which will end the China Plague, all took place on my watch!" Trump tweeted Nov. 16.
In their own recent announcements, Moderna gave Operation Warp Speed a nod, while Pfizer didn’t mention it. That can be explained by the different partnerships the Trump administration struck with the two companies.
The agreements with private companies vary in scope. In some cases, the U.S. government has agreed to purchase vaccines that achieve emergency-use authorization or licensure from the FDA. In other cases, the U.S. government is paying to manufacture vaccine doses while clinical trials are underway.
The U.S. government did not fund the companies’ research and development.
Pfizer chose to risk its own money on vaccine research and not take federal funding in order to avoid bureaucracy and politics, Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla said. He said its investment so far was at least $1.5 billion.
"I wanted to liberate our scientists from any bureaucracy," Bourla told CBS in September. "When you get money from someone that always comes with strings.
Not only strings, bragging rights it seems, even if you don't take Warp Speed funding.
Trump is a dangerous demagogue of the first order. The only person attempting to steal the election was Trump.
He is guilty of dereliction of duty for waiting an hour to call in the national guard in the riots.
Courage to Convict
Trump should have been convicted in the impeachment trial. Sadly, 43 Republican Senators lacked the courage to do the right thing.
Trump awaits trial in civil and criminal prosecutions for election tampering in Georgia and tax fraud in New York.
He belongs in prison for dereliction of duty and election tampering, not the White House.
