I don't think the legal actions are meant to win outright. They are meant to delay the certifications past Dec 8th, the safe harbor date.

Before the safe harbor date, the US Congress is essentially forced to accept the certified results. After the safe harbor date, it opens up options for them to potentially mix and match slates of electors in a contest that the GOP thinks favors them.

The whole process is complex, and not clearly enough defined legally for my personal comfort level.

The outcome (President) likely can be explained by Trump dislike--about 3-4% voting against him for President, yet realizing Biden is a zombie, they still voted for him, AND for Republicans in the House to offset the damage.
