NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Barclays (BCS) - Get Report shares are down -6.4% to $14.69 on Thursday following news that New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was filing a securities fraud lawsuit against the British bank for allegedly favoring high-frequency traders in its trading business.

The firm's private trading business, known as a dark pool, is under scrutiny due to allegations that the bank misrepresented the number of high-frequency traders in the dark pool and failed to protect traders from predatory behavior.
