NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Unilever NV(UN) - Get Report shares closed trading up by 0.68% to $44.40 on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the release of the consumer goods company's second quarter earnings results. Unilever will release its financial report before the market open tomorrow.
The Dutch company is expected to report second quarter earnings of 54 cents per share on revenue of $15.5 billion.
Unilever's expected earnings for the most recent quarter are four cents below the 58 cents per share the company reported in the year ago period. Revenue expectations are also down from the $17.1 billion the company generated in the same period last year.
The company reported earnings that were in line with expectations in the 2015 first quarter, though the company's results were slowed by soft sales in its emerging markets sector.
The emerging markets sector is the company's most profitable segment and accounts for about two-thirds of its revenue, according to Zacks.
