NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Dentsply Sirona (XRAY) - Get DENTSPLY SIRONA, Inc. Report  were lower in late-afternoon trading on Thursday, ahead of the company's 2016 second-quarter results, due out before Friday's market open. 

The York, PA-based dental equipment maker is expected to report earnings of 70 cents per share on revenues of $1.03 billion. Last year, the company posted earnings of 73 cents per share on revenues of $698 million for the same quarter. 

The company should benefit from the unsaturated dental equipment market, reports. 

Downside risks include an unfavorable foreign exchange rate and a need to spend money on product development despite a decline in sales, said.
