NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Viper Energy Partners  (VNOM) - Get Viper Energy Partners LP Report surged on Wednesday, its first day of trading after the company's IPO.

Viper priced its initial public offering of 5 million shares at $26 a share for a total of $130 million before underwriters' purchase of additional shares. The company had expected to price the shares at $19 to $21, according to a regulatory filing.

The stock opened at $31.50 and rose more than 28% to a high of $34.33 as of 12:26 p.m. More than 5.1 million shares had changed hands by that point.
