NEW YORK (TheStreet) --Tinder and Spotify announced they are joining forces and will give users the ability to link their Spotify accounts to their Tinder profiles to showcase a person's particular taste in music.

Tinder, owned by Dallas, TX-based Match Group,  (MTCH) - Get Reportis a mobile application that allows users to connect with people they match with and then enter into a conversation with them. Match Group owns several other online dating services including OkCupid and Match.com.

"Users can now broadcast their 'anthem' on their profiles to see who shares their taste in music. The new update also lets you show your favorite artists, giving users another reason to swipe right," CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin reported on Wednesday morning's "Squawk Box."

The recently announced partnership with online music streaming giant Spotify will give Tinder users the ability to showcase their music preferences in the hopes of finding further connections with people they are seeking to match with.

Shares of Match Group were higher during pre-market trading.
