The Night Watch: Tech Stocks Mixed After Rough Regular Session

priceline is the volume leader, but traders aren't as busy as they were Monday.

After-hours action was moderate Tuesday while traders tried to regroup from an across-the-board selloff in

regular trading.

Volume was considerably lighter than Monday's extra session. In the first 45 minutes of trading, around 2.5 million shares had changed hands among the 20 most active stocks on the Instinet platform.

The most active issue was

priceline.com

(PCLN)

, which inched up 0.4% to $5.18.

OpenWave

(OPWV)

was climbing 1% to $6.26.

Software makers had a rough session

after a warning from

PeopleSoft

(PSFT)

tripped up the sector. In extra trading, investors weren't seeing many bargains, as the stocks mainly continued to tick lower.

PeopleSoft was losing another 0.8% to $24.95.
