Shares of Dell were inching up 0.9% to $28.10 on the Instinet platform after the company posted first-quarter earnings of 17 cents a share, a penny ahead of estimates and matching the result from the same period a year ago. The company also said second-quarter earnings and revenue would show improvement.

Other tech issues were active, but they weren't moving much. The

Autodesk

(ADSK) - Get Report

was one of the late session's biggest losers, falling 12.8% to $13.60. After the market closed, the design software maker reported quarterly results that were roughly in line with its warning from earlier this month.
