On a day that equities were punished, U.S. Treasury issues strengthened considerably.

Around 4 p.m. EDT, the 10-year note was up 27/32 to 101 31/32, yielding 4.618%. The 30-year bond was ahead by 1 4/32 to 100 16/32, to yield 5.339%.

Shorter-term notes were also advancing. The two-year was ahead by 6/32 to 100 17/32, yielding 2.589%, and the five-year was adding 18/32 to 102 17/32, yielding 3.797%.
