Treasuries Gain Ground as Equities Plunge

The 30-year bond is the strongest issue. The two-year note is slightly higher.

U.S. Treasury notes and bonds were higher on a day that equities struggled mightily and ended with big losses. In afternoon trading Thursday, the two-year note was up 1/32 to 100 12/32, yielding 3.42%, and the five-year was gaining 4/32 to 95 21/32, with a yield of 4.56%.

The 10-year was better by 6/32 to 97 15/32, yielding 5.20%, and the long bond was ahead by 13/32 to 95 26/32, taking the yield down to 5.67%. Yields and prices move in opposite directions.
