) -- Economic activity in the non-manufacturing sector improved more than expected in September, according to the latest survey of purchasing and supply executives.
The Institute for Supply Management said on Tuesday that the non-manufacturing index registered a 53.2% in September, up from 51.5% in August and higher than the 51.8% economists were expecting, according to estimates from
While non-manufacturing business activity index decreased 1.6 percentage points indicating slowing growth, the index of new orders and employment index both expanded.
