stake in two cable systems that Prime already manages. The deal values the systems at $637 million.

on Monday will cut prices by up to 50% on the switches it sells to small and midsize businesses, the trade publication

MCI

on Monday will introduce an all-Sonet local and long-distance data service that delivers end-to-end speed and performance guarantees from one corporate site to another, according to the trade publication

. The service will be unique among high-speed data services offered by the big three long-distance companies because MCI will be the first carrier to offer such a service entirely on its own facilities, from a customer's premises to any other corporate site, the publication said.

adopted a shareholder rights plan.

Ikon Office Solutions

said it expects to report fourth-quarter earnings of 33 cents to 36 cents per share versus the year-ago 30 cents. The 10-analyst consensus estimate calls for 34 cents.

Smartflex Systems

(SFLX)

said it will eliminate about 165 jobs in Singapore and 30 in Tustin, Calif., resulting in an unspecified one-time charge.
