Share of Pacira BioSciences (PCRX - Get Report) rose 8% after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced the pharmaceutical company's shares would be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Index before market open on Monday, Sept. 30.

Parsippany, N.J.-based Pacira provides non-opioid pain management and regenerative health products.

Pacira will replace Shutterfly on the small-cap index, after the digital imagery company was recently acquired by private-equity firm Apollo Global Management (APO - Get Report) .

Pacira stock was up 8% to $40.99 on Wednesday. Pacira shares have fallen by about 16% over the past year.
