Wall Street is expecting Merck to check in with earnings of 71 cents in the first quarter, which would be above the 63 cents earned in the year-ago period. A single analyst polled by

Thomson Financial/First Call

is predicting revenue of $10.9 billion in the quarter. Merck closed down $1, or 1.2%, to $78.30 on the

New York Stock Exchange

Thursday.
