The third financial services company -- Morgan Stanley Dean Witter (MWD) -- posts its third-quarter results today. Driven by trading profits and merger advisor gains, both Lehman Brothers (LEH) and Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report have posted strong results.

On the economic front, the

Philadelphia Fed Index, a good gauge of what to expect from the
