On Tap Today: Initial Claims for Unemployment and Consumer Sentiment Index Released

Before heading out for the holiday, investors will get the chance to digest the rest of this week's economic data.

Three weekly indicators, the

Mortgage Applications Survey,

Initial Jobless Claims report, and

Consumer Comfort Index are released.

Chief among these indicators is the jobless claims data, which is considered a good gauge of the condition of the labor market and determinant of the tone of the

Employment Report, thought to be the single best measure of the health of the economy.
