Headlining today's events is the highly anticipated, widely discussed Federal Open Market Committee Meeting. At 2:15 p.m. EDT, the Fed is expected to announce no change in its current short-term fed-funds target of 6.5%. A Reuters poll conducted Thursday shows 28 of 29 primary dealers in government securities are forecasting no rate hike. TSC previewed this afternoon's meeting in a separate story.

As today's verdict rolls in, however, investors will begin to wonder about FOMC meetings that lie ahead. Although

Greenspan and his pals are not likely to crank up rates before the presidential election, the jury's still out on what they'll do in November. And so, the Fed Watch renews.
