Sportswear giant Nike  (NKE) is exploring the sale of its surfwear brand Hurley International, according to a report.

A sale of Hurley is one of the options that Nike is considering for the Costa Mesa, California-born brand, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

It wasn't clear how much Hurley would fetch in a sale, according to Reuters. Nike declined to comment.

Nike purchased Hurley from founder Bob Hurley in 2002 for an undisclosed sum in an effort to expand into sportswear for surfing, skating, and snowboarding.

Nike shares were inactive in premarket trading Thursday.
