Markets Fall in Europe

Stocks were mixed in Asia and retreating in Europe Thursday following a selloff during the prior session in the U.S. market.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 was down 0.7% overnight at 17,540, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.3% to 20,380. However, mainland China's CSI 300 surged 1.8% to 3176, and South Korea's Kospi added 0.8% at 1526.

Australia's All Ordinaries Index tacked on 0.1% to 6143, but India's Sensex gave back 0.5% at 13,114. Singapore's Straits Times Index sank 1.4% to 3373.

Meanwhile, Europe's major bourses were uniformly in the red. London's FTSE 100 was off 0.3% at 6394, and Frankfurt's Xetra DAX was down 0.4% at 7121. The Paris Cac 40 was losing 0.6% at 5719.

The Swiss Market Index was dropping 0.5% at 9090, and the Milan MIB 30 surrendered 0.3% at 42,561. Sweden's Stockholm 30 was weaker by 0.7% at 1240.
