Goldman Sachs (GS - Get Report)   said it has hired two new technology executives to help increase innovation at the firm.

The firm is bringing on Amazon Web Services executive Marco Argenti as a partner and co-chief information officer, as well as former Verizon Media Group executive Atte Lahtiranta as partner and chief technology officer.

In a memo to staff, Goldman said both new hires will work with co-CIO George Lee to "deliver differentiated and innovative technology and data solutions to our clients."

Goldman says the firm will benefit from the "considerable experience and best practices that both Marco and Atte bring in cloud computing and core engineering."

Argenti has 30 years of technology experience and has been vice president of technology at AWS since 2013 and before that worked at Nokia.

Lahtiranta was CTO at Verizon Media Group and before that founded and was the CTO of e-commerce platform ShopAdvisor.

Goldman shares were trading up 1% to $219.10.
