Market Overview

The three major U.S. indices finished mixed on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 91 points or 0.37%. The S&P 500  was up 0.17% while the Nasdaq (NDAQ)  dropped 0.33%.

For the week the Dow rose 2.34%, the S&P 500 gained 2.41% and the Nasdaq rose by 2.68%.

Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) shares finished 2% lower on Friday after the chipmaker posted stronger-than-expected first-quarter earnings on Thursday, but spooked investors by revealing details that indicate an increasing reliance on volatile cryptocurrency mining activity.

Symantec Corp. (SYMC) shares plunged 33% on Friday after the cyber security firm said an internal investigation could delay the filing of it annual report and alter its weaker-than-expected sales and earnings forecasts.
