S&P 500 futures stood at 1102, trading about 9 points ahead of fair value.
Nokia

was the most active stock in preopen trading as 850,000 shares changed hands on Instinet. The stock was recently gaining $1.55 cents, or 11.3%, at $15.30 after the company said it would meet its third-quarter earnings goals despite weak market conditions.
RF Micro Devices
(RFMD)
was also among the most active, trading up $1.25, or 5.5%, to $23.98 before the bell.
Cisco

shares were up 34 cents, or 2.3%, to $14.18.
Overseas, London's FTSE 100 traded up 52 points, or 1%, to 5086. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 closed up 97 points, or 1%, to 10,293 despite weakness in banking stocks. Hong Kong's Hang Seng finished up 51 points, or 0.5%, to 10,417. In currencies, the dollar is firmer against the yen and the euro.
