NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The chemicals sector -- which is such a diverse industry that, to be sure, it's always difficult to generalize -- has nonetheless benefited from some strong fundamentals almost across the board.
Prices have been strong in many specialty chemicals businesses. In the commodity petrochemicals segment (
), cheap natural gas, a crucial feedstock, has allowed U.S. producers to lord it over their foreign competitors. Export volumes have thus surged.
