NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Edgewell Personal Care (EPC) - Get Report are slumping 5.78% to $79.35 on heavy trading volume Tuesday afternoon after the company posted weaker-than-expected results for the 2016 fiscal third quarter.
Before today's opening bell, the Chesterfield, MO-based personal care products company reported adjusted earnings of 66 cents per share, lower than analysts' estimates of 78 cents per share.
Revenue for the period was $645.1 million, below Wall Street's projections of $647.5 million.
For fiscal 2016, Edgewell sees adjusted earnings per share between $3.45 and $3.60. Analysts are modeling earnings of $3.41 per share. Full-year organic sales are expected to decrease between 3.8% and 4.2%.
About 1.15 million of the company's shares changed hands so far today vs. its average volume of 524,368 shares per day.
