The euro rose against its world counterparts as 300 million Europeans in 12 countries got their hands on the single currency.

The euro rose to 90.44 cents from 88.94 Monday. The euro traded up to 119.34 yen from 117.14 in the prior session.

The greenback bought 132.09 yen, and the British pound changed hands at $1.4466.
