The euro remained strong against the U.S. dollar Monday, but the greenback was steadying in trading with the Canadian currency.

Euros were going for $1.4088 recently, up from $1.4081 late Friday. The dollar was at C$1.0012, up a bit from C$1.0002 previously.

Last week, Canada's dollar traded at parity with its U.S. counterpart for the first time in more than 30 years.

The yen rose to 114.92 from 115.38 during the prior session, and the pound climbed to $2.0218 from $2.0198. The Australian dollar was increasing, but the U.S. currency rose vs. the Swiss franc.
