The dollar was basically flat against the euro and the yen after a report showed that U.S. consumer confidence
unexpectedly dropped in November.
The U.S. currency traded at 88.07 cents per euro, down from 88.03 cents Monday. The greenback traded at 124.05 yen, compared with 124.06 in the prior session.
The pound rose to $1.4138 from $1.4108, and the euro bought 109.39 yen.
