The dollar hit a five-week high against the yen, and the greenback rose against the euro amid hopes that the U.S. economy will recover more quickly than Japan or Europe. The dollar changed hands at 121.43 yen, up from 120.83 Monday. The dollar rose to 90.64 cents per euro from 90.93 in the prior session. Britain's pound was slightly weaker versus the dollar, trading at $1.4458, compared with $1.4476. The Canadian dollar slipped fractionally against its U.S. counterpart.
