Precious metals were climbing Thursday, and commodities in general were enjoying an upbeat session.
Gold was up $4 to $739.50 an ounce in New York, and silver was rising nearly 7 cents to $13.61 an ounce.
Copper was gaining 4 cents to $3.61 a pound.
Among agricultural products, corn and soybeans were up 2%. Cotton and sugar also climbed. As for the few losers, lean hogs and cocoa fell by about 0.5% each.
The Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index, which tracks commodities prices, was adding almost 3 points at 334.66.
