Energy and metals prices were slumping across the board Tuesday, led by sharp declines in gold and oil futures.
Recently, crude was down $1.93 to $57.46 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, and natural gas was giving up 19 cents to $7.32 per million British thermal units.
Heating oil was falling 7 cents to $1.61 a gallon, and gasoline was weaker by 4 cents, also at $1.61 a gallon.
Turning to metals, gold was diving $11 to $661.80 an ounce, and silver was losing 23 cents to $13.76 an ounce. Copper was falling 7 cents to $2.59 a pound.
