BOMBAY -- The Bombay stocks returned to their losing ways Monday, dropping 3.4%.

The Sensex index dropped 334 points to close at 9,476. The index is now down 23% in a month and has lost ground in five of six trading sessions, with the lone exception of Friday's 5.5% rally.

Big losers Monday were

, which lost 7.1%,

BHEL

, down 6.9%,

HDFC

, down 6.8%, and

ICICI Bank

The only gainer was

Dr Reddy's Labs

(RDY) - Get Report

, which moved up 0.8%.

Larsen & Toubro

dropped 2.9% despite an order for the Bisalpur water supply project.

Ashok Leyland

dipped 2.7% even as it reported plans for the Malaysian market.
