Asian Stocks Mixed; Europe Posts Gains

NEW YORK (
) -- Asian stocks ended mixed and European shares were rising ahead of a U.S. trading day filled with economic data.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 stock average rose 0.8% to 10.751.26, while shares in Hong Kong declined 0.09%.
Stocks in China finished 1.2% to the downside as investors feared an inflation spike could lead to an interest rate hike as the government looked to cool economic growth.
In London, stocks rose 0.3%, while Frankfurt shares gained 0.6% and Paris shares were up 0.5%.
In the U.S. Friday, investors await reports on retail sales and consumer sentiment. Premarket futures suggested stocks would open mixed on Wall Street.
