Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie Bezos are donating $10 million to a Super PAC that backs veterans running for Congress, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The donation comes after President Trump, months ago, made comments insinuating that Amazon (AMZN - Get Report) is too large, and is doing damage to American retailers and customers. Trump also tweeted Amazon isn't paying taxes, and that it doesn't pay enough to the United States Postal Service. Amazon just reached a $1 trillion valuation, becoming the second company in the world to reach the mark, following Apple  (AAPL - Get Report) .

The group Bezos is giving money to, the With Honor Fund, is a non-partisan group backing veterans of both parties. The PAC currently backs 33 candidates, including 19 Democrats and 14 Republicans. The group's three main tenets, or values, are integrity, civility, and courage.

Bezos, whose net worth is estimated by Bloomberg at $166 billion, joins a group of extremely wealthy political donors that includes Sheldon Adelson, founder of Las Vegas Sands Corp.  (LVS - Get Report)  and billionaire hedge fund manager and liberal activist Tom Steyer. The $10 million donation is less than what Bezos has been making every hour this year, as his net worth has been increasing at an average of roughly $260 million per day.
