The latest disruptor to the U.S. healthcare industry officially has a leader.
Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN - Get Report) , Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.B - Get Report) and JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM - Get Report) named Dr. Atul Gawande as the CEO of their joint partnership designed to tackle U.S. employee healthcare. Gawande will assume his position at the head of the company on July 9.
"I'm thrilled to be named CEO of this healthcare initiative. I have devoted my public health career to building scalable solutions for better healthcare delivery that are saving lives, reducing suffering, and eliminating wasteful spending both in the US and across the world," Gawande said in a statement.
The still unnamed company will be headquartered in Boston and will operate as a non-profit organization.

He Has Written Four New York Times Bestsellers
Gawande has penned four books that shot to the top of The New York Times bestseller list including "Complications," "Better," "The Checklist Manifesto" and "Being Mortal."
He Is a Professor as Well as a Practicing Physician
Gawande practices general and endocrine surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and is a professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School.
He Is Also a Journalist
Gawande has been a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine since 1998 and has won two National Magazine Awards for his articles and the Lewis Thomas Award for writing about science.
